Final Day = Final goodbyes

TheLuong&TheShortOfIt

Since my last post I have been playing hostess and designated caretaker. So let me catch y’all up.

On the 25th of March, I was hosting some people who came to visit my aunt. Three different visits, multiple trips up and down the stairs carrying snacks and tea for the guests. There was this little boy who was running around and eating chocolate. He’s a cutie but he got chocolate everywhere so I had to clean it up. After the last guest, I took a quick shower and did some paperwork for my aunt. Then, I ate a little bit at Aunt Sue but went out again for dinner with Aunt Hai and the family. We had some yummy Italian near Oxford Street. This street is home to drag queens and is very LGBT friendly. This was where the Mardi Gras parade was.

The next day was Dee’s last day with us before she headed off to Japan. We were suppose to go to the beach and swim since it was warm but her suitcase broke so they had to go find a new one. Meanwhile, I was at home and helping get food ready to eat. Fish! I like eating fish and the tamarind mixed fish sauce. It’s quite tasty. Aunt Sue and family were face timing my family and showing them what we were having. Finally, Aunt and Uncle Hai came and we feasted on the fish!

Afterwards, I showered and headed to Dee’s house and we explored the beach. I’m going to miss the beach :(. We explored and went to the store and Dee got some calamari to snack on. We headed home and had some noodle soup and helped Dee do her final packing stuff. Then we tried to (and I did) finished the lychee liqueur and watched some Japanese show that’s similar to a discontinued US show called Take Me Home hosted by George Lopez. And then I went back home to do my own packing.

Sunday morning, Tone, Dee and I headed to Rhodes to have yum cha (Chinese brunch) with Tone’s potential girlfriend Channy. As always, I took secret photos of the two. I think Dee liked her and we just basically teased Tone as always. She tried to pay but as Tone went to pay she tried to lure Dee and me to take her money. We knew better than to take it but I said she could pay for bubble tea if that made her feel better. She did pay (although they fought about that too lol) but wanted to still give us the money. We said our goodbyes and she refused to hug Tone unless he took her money. So they left without hugs lol

I hung out with Dee for a little bit and she napped before we headed out to the airport. Then we were off and we saw some of her friends. We stayed for about an hour (which cost $17 for parking!) and made sure she was okay. We got home and had some food and basically ate her chocolate and drank her passion fruit liqueur. It was really good and expensive chocolate too! But she left it behind and we HAD to eat it since she won’t be here.

Since I ate only a little, my cousin Tone bought me a kebab. Since I didn’t go, I didn’t put the sauce I wanted. He put some chili sauce, which kinda was too sour for the kebab but it was good! And then I just ended up doing more packing.

That day was also talks about my dad’s mom. I had asked my Aunt Sue about her a couple of days earlier. Aunt Sue is the only one who met her (around 2008 I think). She has been gone since my Aunt Sue was 4 months. My grandfather tweaked everyone’s name and birthdays so even if she did look (which I’m not sure) she couldn’t really find them. But Aunt Sue accidentally found her. Her friend found her when Aunt Sue jokingly said she comes home to Vietnam to find her mom. I found out she had 10 other children, 4 before my grandfather, and 6 after when she remarried. Aunt Sue looks like her and they went out to dinner once. Since then, Aunt Sue refuses to let her friend to give her mom her phone number. She’s been gone for so long and it’s not really necessary to have her in our lives…I don’t know…

On Monday, I did more paperwork for my Aunt Sue. It’s so silly because they had to see her physically to actually start her claims. She had to walk carefully and we finished with part one (there’s more). For breakfast, Aunt Sue made some coffee for me with the machine she got from my cousin. It was pretty good and didn’t take much bending (I poured the milk lol). For dinner, I went to Aunt Hai and we had some rice and roast duck. Dee also skyped over so we got to talk to her.

Tuesday was my final day. It was such an exhausting day. I had to finish all the paperwork and stuff for my Aunt Sue accident claim. I tried to go to the bathroom quietly so I can get a little sleep time later but she heard me! So from 7:30am, I had been working almost nonstop. We went to the doctor, had lunch (Maccas or Mcdonalds. I had a lamb wrap!), went to the bank to reset her passwords, showed her how to use the machine for withdrawals, checked her medical benefits, headed to set up her physiotherapy appointments, and then tried to finish the paperwork. Phew! And I still wasn’t done with the paperwork. They ask for so much unnecessary crap. I also made sure to go visit my grandfather with my Aunt Hai. He wasn’t very active but he finished all the food and he was in a chair so that was good. It makes me sad I’m not going to be there to visit and I feel guilty not seeing him every day while I was there…

I went back to Aunt Sue to finish more paperwork and then Aunt Hai and family headed out for my final dinner. We went to get Chinese at this place (Fortune Palace?) and you got to be Chinese to get all the secret stuff like soup and dessert. It was pretty good! Then we headed home and I dropped off my big luggages with them so I can finish the paperwork. I FINALLY did at around 10ish and then I had to finish packing! Took forever but I scanned all the paperwork and repacked everything around 12am. It took me until 1am to actually sleep.

Today is the day I leave. Will update with photos and such later! Stay tune!
