Staying at Henn-na Hotel is filled with unexpected and delightful surprises

A hotel chain named Henn-na Hotel (weird hotels) isn’t scaring away potential guests with its odd-sounding name. Henn-na Hotel is the world-first hotel staffed by robots.

The hotel chain is famed for being staffed by robot receptionists and concierges. Offering 100 to 200 guest rooms, the new branches are aimed at tourists and business travelers. The room rate for two people is expected to be 10,000 yen ($88), or less a night per person, the company said.

At the front desk, you will be greeted by multi-lingual robots that will help you check in or check out. At the cloakroom, the robotic arm will store your luggage for you. Mechanic yet somehow human, those fun moments with the robots will warm your heart. Furthermore, once you register your face with the hotel’s face recognition system, you will be free from the hassle of carrying the room key around or worrying about losing it.

The first outlet opened next to the Huis Ten Bosch theme park in Sasebo, Nagasaki Prefecture, in 2015.

In Tokyo, the new outlets will open sequentially in the districts of Nishi-Kasai, Tsukiji, Hamamatsucho, Asakusabashi and Akasaka, in addition to an area surrounding Haneda Airport. Two new outlets will open in Osaka’s Shinsaibashi district, while Fukuoka’s Nakasu district and Kyoto Prefecture will also have a Henn-na Hotel.
