Places to Visit near Narita Airport in Tokyo

Narita is a city in Chiba Prefecture, roughly 60 kilometers east of central Tokyo. The city is most famous as the site of Tokyo’s international airport, Narita Airport.

If you are travelling to Japan and landing at Narita. You do not want to head into Tokyo immediately but spend the night in Narita City which is easy to get to from Narita and plenty of sights to see.

Narita’s main tourist attraction is Naritasan, a popular Buddhist temple with a history of over 1000 years. But the city and surroundings have several other attractions that can keep transit travelers and those with excess time at the airport busy for some time.

Naritasan Shinshoji Temple

The time-honored temple has a history of over 1000 years, during which it has attracted many believers. The convenient location very near Narita International Airport allows visitors in transit to visit the temple. Mt. Narita Park

Mt. Narita Park was completed in 1928. The atmospheric scenery only in the Japanese garden full of changes throughout the year which Nature wove was created, and it has been protected carefully as the oasis of wild bird and insects and the park where was in a state near naturally indeed for several years.

Aeon Mall Narita

AEON MALL Narita is the biggest shopping center in Narita. They are dealing in a lot of things such as big supermarkets and restaurants, souvenir shops, etc.

This shopping center is just 10 minutes away from Narita airport by bus.

Sakura Furusato Square

Sakura Furusato Square is symbolized by the authentic Dutch windmill in its grounds. It is for the residents of Sakura to relax and enjoy themselves, offering the chance to commune with the natural surroundings of Lake Inbanuma.

The Dutch windmill was built to commemorate 400 years of friendship between Japan and the Netherlands. It was given the name, de Liefde, after the Dutch ship of the same name that prompted the beginning of exchange between the two countries.

The Saranka kiosk near the windmill can be used as a rest area. Furusato Square is the perfect spot to enjoy the flowers of the seasons, with the Sakura Tulip Festa held in April, the Windmill Sunflower Garden in July, and the Sakura Cosmos Festa in October every year.

With a bike path along Lake Inbanuma, you can rent a bicycle and enjoy cycling around the area.

Samurai Houses
Kawara’s house, Tajima’s house, Takei’s house

Sakura clansman lived on architecture that was in the latter half of the Edo era with three.

Kawara’s house is considered that it is the oldest in samurai family house left in the city, and displayed furniture can have a glimpse of lifestyle of samurai of Sakura.

Tajima’s house is Samurai Houses built in current place from those days, and visit, break in building is possible. Display of Samurai Houses-related document excavated with removing and rebuilding is seen in Takei’s house.
