Horror Aquarium Attraction at Ikebukuro Sunshine Aquarium!

Haunted attraction producer Hirofumi Gomi is collaborating with Sunshine Aquarium located inside Ikebukuro’s Sunshine City to bring to the public the horror-themed aquarium experience “Ayakashi no Ningyo” which will run from 28th September to 5th November.

This new haunted attraction takes full advantage of the set location of an aquarium to bring a visual and audible experience that promises to instill true “fear.”

Hirofumi Gomi first surprised everyone back in 1992 with his “Maro Akaji no Panorama Kaikikan” attraction (which roughly translates to “Maro Akaji’s Panorama House of the Strange”) which was built at Kourakuen Yuuenchi (now Tokyo Dome City Attractions). It was widely received and drew much attention. The haunted attraction had its own original lore and was created in a unique style in which people had to participate in the story itself, taking on individual roles to complete a specific mission inside the attraction.

The first horror aquarium was held in October 2016 and titled “Noroi no Mizugushi” (“Curse of the Water Comb”). It hailed as the first participatory horror experience to be held at an aquarium. It was hugely praised and drew in around 20,000 people.

Now, the second installment is finally here and is themed around “mermaids,” beings with two sides to them that consist of both beauty and fear. Also, in conjunction with the horror aquarium, the “Kanaloa Café” is turning itself into a “Horror Café,” and the “Aqua Pocket” gift shop will be selling related merchandise. Both the café and the shop are located at the aquarium.

Chances are you have never experienced anything like this, so head on over to the horrified Sunshine Aquarium for a goosebumps-inducing, hair-standing experience.
