Ramen Girls Festival 2017 in Osaka for the first time!

If ramen had a stereotypical image it would be this: a lone male sitting at a counter, slurping down noodles after a night drinking with colleagues, therefore, many women tend to avoid eating it, particularly for beauty reasons.

In Japan, there aren’t many women that visit a ramen shop alone to binge on a bowl of ramen. The Ramen Girls Festival hopes to change that. Indeed, the concept of the festival is to “spread a culture that ramen can be eaten by females on their own”.

It was started by Morimoto Satoko, a ramen blogger who claims to devour no less than 600 bowls of the stuff each year. There are 24 Ramen stores were selected by Morimoto Satoko and will be gathered from the all over Japan, don’t miss the chance to try the limited ramen for the festival. For men, you can come too but be advised, there are sections where it is women only.

Goods from ramen stalls (topping etc) or vending machine are cash only. They also have bathrooms available in the park and the event provide smoking area as well. Also, you cannot take any food home with you so go hungry and eat lots!

The Ramen Girl Festival will be held in Nagoya as well! Check more information on the event page.
