In Nara, wild deers usually roam freely in the city, walking on the sidewalk, loitering around temples or even resting in the streets and parks.
Recently hundreds of deers have surprised people by resting on the grass in front of the Nara National museum around 5pm.
Locals and visitors have shared this unusual event on twitter or instagram with tags like 「鹿だまり(Heaps Of Deer)」or「鹿だんご(Deer Dango)」”, to describe this amazing sight.
What residents have guessed was that where the grass is located at the museum, there are vents at the east and west of the building. With the recent high temperatures in Nara, the deers are gathering in large groups near the vents to enjoy the cool air.
