日本花火大会2017 Japan Hanabi  Festivals

  For most of Japanese, fireworks are THE BEST THING EVER about the summer. Summer = fireworks. Festivals = fireworks. They can take many hours to find the best spot and wait at there for half day even a day,in hot summer!

Firework’s history

  Originally used to ward off evil spirits, fireworks (花火, Hanabi) have a long history in Japan and are an integral part of Japanese summers. Hundreds of firework shows are held every year across the country, mainly during the summer holidays in July and August, with some of them drawing hundreds of thousands of spectators. On the other hand, fireworks are not typically used to celebrate New Year. (refer to WIKI)

「firework’s street」Omagari  is the Japan’s 1th pround of art fireworks

Start at 1910,although this firework Festival was stopped at once, this time is the 91th  「Omagari’s Fireworks」More than 30 fireworks makers from all over Japan compete to show off their technique and skills. The champion will receive the Prime Minister Prize.

This fireworks competition has a long history and started in 1910 when fireworks were an attraction of the festival at the Suwa jinja Shrine. Every year more than 600,000 people visit to see this big breath taking fireworks from all over Japan.

Omagari National Japan Fireworks Competition

DATE: The 4th Saturday of August from 6:50pm

第86回土浦全国花火競技大会  TSUCHIURA ALL JAPAN FIREWORKS COMPETITION – IBARAKI

Tsuchiura All Japan Fireworks Competition

Tsuchiura All Japan Fireworks Competition is one of the biggest firework show in Japan and held in October along the Sakura River. It is a big entertainment of sound and light and gives impressions to all spectators visiting this show.

It is very honor to be a winner and get a prize in this special competition. The fireworks can be seen from all around the city but the best viewing point is along the river.

DATE: The 1st Saturday in October from 6:00pm to 8:30pm

長岡まつり大花火大会  NAGAOKA FIREWORKS FESTIVAL – NIIGATA

ながおかまつりおおはなびたいかい

  Nagaoka fireworks festival is one of the largest fireworks festivals in Japan and held along the Shinano River over two nights in August. You can enjoy a variety of remarkable fireworks for almost 2 straight hours on both nights.

  It originally began in 1946 as a war-damage reconstruction festival. The Phoenix-shaped fireworks became a symbol of recovery after the 2004 Niigata Earthquake. People mourn for the souls of the deceased through the fireworks festival. You can feel the spirit of Japan there. Also the finale of the show covers about two kilometers of the river and it is the widest span of fireworks in the world.

Tips for enjoying fireworks and “yatai” food stands

Large-scale and popular fireworks festivals attract many people and become crowded. To enjoy fireworks displays, it is important to leave home early to secure a viewing spot,be sure to wear easy to walking shoes,it’s quite important,because you will not stay at a spot all along.Further more if you take train, it’s not possible to get there when the firework ending,because it will full of people,if you wants to get home faster,we suggest you can go nearest next station of the station near the festival.

Be sure to bring a folding fan or drinks to fight the heat! In addition, there are often yatai food stands near fireworks sites. If you stroll around the area before the start of the fireworks, you can eat “Kakigori”, finely shaved ice with syrup, or enjoy “kingyo sukui”, in which you scoop goldfish swimming in a water tank. Also, don’t forget to wear “yukata”, a casual traditional Japanese garment, to enhance your mood!
