We arrived Thursday, August 27th around 3:30 in the afternoon to gloomy skies, but that couldn’t put shade on our excitement. Took us a while, but we arrived in our perfectly sized AirBnB apartment in Hiro-o, a small subdivision within Shibuya, Tokyo. Here’s what we did.
Here is a view just outside our metro station called Ebisu. Many restaurants, pastry shops, bars, etc.
Went to Shibuya, one of the busiest areas of Toyko. Very bright lights, lots of advertising, think Times Square, but everywhere.
E-money (Dirty E) decided that it was a good idea to grab a wake-up beverage in Shibuya, then go out on the town. Wasn’t a bad idea.
Spicy fermented Cod intestines in a gochujang sauce on a huge mint leave and negi (scallion) sprinkled on top. Delicious. Consistency was chewy and rubbery but flavorful.
Great marbling on this quality Wagyu beef. Fat’s flavor. Had some pork belly and chicken in the mix. Onions were great.
Big-E as the chef, Jax and I relaxed and drank some good cold sake.
Off to Roppongi. This is where we bar-hopped.
Luxurious statues at Feire. Had my birthday here last year.
Went to Gas Panic. Good times were had.
These girls told me I looked like Prince Eric from Lil Mermaid. As per Smirnoff Ice, don’t judge, when in Rome, do as the Japanese do.
Karage and gyozas were had by all.
This may not look pretty, but 7-Eleven food is amazing here in Japan.
Day one: Success!
