Life, Pictured: Episode 00

Benedict Terrell

In one moment, you might be lucky enough to have the experience of a lifetime. Where you are right now is the direct result of where you’ve been. I’ve been lucky enough to have been many places. “Life, Pictured” takes a photo and gives you a look at where I’ve been and how I am where I’ve come to be.

I’ll start off simple. This New Year’s Day may have been the most humble I’ve ever had. My wife and I traveled out to Sagamihara in Kanagawa, Japan. There you’ll find Oyama, one of the many mountains available to hike or climb throughout the year. I’ve climbed a fair amount of mountains during my stay in Japan and Oyama was a wonderful mountain to climb. We arrived in the early afternoon and by dinnertime we made our way both up and down the mountain.

Starting your New Year on top of a mountain, feeling a chill in your bones as you stare out at all the land stretched out between you and the Pacific, is quite the way to begin. 2016 is a year of promise for anyone who wants to seize their chances. You don’t have to climb a mountain to see the world differently… but it sure does help if you do.
