The two-week Fireworks! music festival, starting 13 February, will showcase electronic music from international avant-garde musicians.
Paris’ Fireworks! music festival, showcasing electronic music from international avant-garde musicians, will bring some of the most cutting-edge artists to the French capital for almost two weeks of musical discovery.
The 13-event festival, which runs from 13 to 24 February, is organised by Super, a Parisian creative agency that represents more than 150 artists (including international music stars Bon Iver and the XX), organises more than 800 concerts a year around France and co-organises the annual Paris outpost of the three-day indie Pitchfork Music festival, which originated in Chicago and takes place at concert venue La Villette in the north of Paris.
Each night of the Fireworks! festival sees one or two different concerts featuring two acts taking place at independent venues throughout the capital, all of which are known for promoting emerging talent – such as the canal-side Point Ephémère in the 19th arrondissement, the futuristic subterranean Social Club in the 2nd arrondissement or the intimate Nouveau Casino on the bar-lined rue Oberkampf in the 11th arrondissement.
The 2012 festival, the first year it was held, featured such acts as mask-wearing electro artist SBTRKT from London, and Tune-Yards, hailing from New England, who uses instruments as diverse as the ukulele and a dictaphone. This year, the organisers will continue to support up-and-coming talent, with young Parisian techno DJ Bambounou playing alongside American electro composer and performer Dan Deacon. SBTRKT will be making a repeat performance.
Tickets for individual concerts are priced from between 14 to 20 euros and are available on Digitick. Tickets will be available at the door if they haven’t sold out online.
