A full month early, the Westin Lima has opened its doors in the San Isidro district of Lima, Peru. The Maras restaurant is from an El Bulli alum who specializes in Peruvian ingredients, and the spa is the largest in the city at 20,000 square feet.

New York continues its summer streak of new hotel openings. Vikram Chatwal’s latest, the Dream Downtown (also known as the Cheesegrater building) opens on 13 June on the border of Chelsea and the Meatpacking District. The pool on the lobby roof will turn into a bar, open to the public after 5:30 pm. The hotel’s restaurant, Romera New York, from Dr/chef Miguel Sanchez Romera, will serve a 12-course prix fixe menu for $245.

In Long Island City, Queens, the Z Hotel is set to open on 15 June along the edge of the East River, with spectacular views of Manhattan skyline icons like the Chrysler Building and the United Nations. It has a rooftop lounge, and a beer garden—the New York City trend of the moment—is coming soon.

On 9 June, the new “Beauty and Buddhism” trek debuts from Geringer Global Travel. The 13-day hike starts in New Delhi, India and combines stops at northern Indian villages and cities with visits to Buddhist monasteries and some camel riding.

Also in northern India, the 164-room JW Marriott Chandigarh opens this month near the Chandigarh airport and railway station. It’s a modern business hotel, with a slight Indian feel in the décor.

Another business traveller-friendly hotel opening this month is the Radisson Blu Hotel, Dubai Downtown, the brand’s 10th property in the United Arab Emirates. It has 242 rooms, many of which have views of the Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building, and is close to the Dubai Mall, the world’s largest mall.
