In this classic video from the BBC archive, former Royal Marine officer and expedition leader Bruce Parry sheds the trappings of a Western existence and lives alongside India’s Adi tribe in remote Arunachal Pradesh in the Himalayas.

After initial suspicion, Parry is adopted as a family member by the chief, and he reciprocates with openness and respect, completely adopting the tribe’s methods, practices and cultures. There is nothing feigned about their mutual affection, and Parry offers a warm-hearted insight into an extraordinary way of life that will soon be gone forever.
