Tokyo Neighborhood at Night

Takeshi

Alright, I was starting to get bored documenting people on the street. I wanted something new for myself. Since spring was coming, cherry blossom is starting to bloom around Tokyo. I thought it was the right time to start shooting some. I went to Naka-Meguro, where there is a river with sakura trees lined up on the side. It looks nice at night with the illumination being done.

I got bored when I saw it. Ok, bad habit of mine is that I get bored easily. Sure, sakura at night is pretty, but I wasn’t interested at that moment for some reason. I ended up exploring the alleys around Naka-Meguro. I found something different.

I felt like I was in a Japanese horror movie. The eerie and dark streets of Tokyo. I felt more curious about the lights and empty streets at night. The silence was intriguing. I can hear the steps of people walking few blocks away. Often, I didn’t realize that there were close to me already.

I will continue doing this project in other neighborhoods in Tokyo. Not sure what difference it will have, but I might be able to feel and see something new.

For now, these are some of the photos I will be sharing.
