ⓒRebecca Bugge, All Rights Reserved Do not use without permission The church is mostly known as Bath abbey - but the full name is the Abbey Church of Saint Peter and Saint Paul. It is now an Anglican church, but it started out as an abbey church to a Benedictine monastery. A church was first built on this spot in the 7th century - but the current building dates from the 12th to the 16th century (with some major restorations made in the 1860s) and one of the better examples of the perpendicular Gothic style.
