Sato Sukeroku Memorial Art Museum

The Museum of Modern Art, Toyama, Toyama, Japan
Built on the castle ground is the Sato Sukeroku Memorial Art Museum. It is designed in the styling of the castle itself and almost appears to be affixed to the exterior fortifications and adjoining yagura (turret). Toyama Castle was originally built in 1543. Following the death of Oda Nubunaga at Honno-ji in Kyoto, Hideyoshi attacked the castle which was under the rule of an Oda retainer, Sassa Narimasa. It was later rebuilt by the Maeda clan and again destroyed 1870. The modern castle and park was rebuilt in 1954. Toyama Castle. Toyama City, Toyama.
