What the Chinese ancestors see

Crescent Bay, Yingkou, China
View across the Georgia Strait from the hostoric Chinese Cemetery, Harling Point, Oak Bay, BC. Please view on black Oak Bay's Chinese cemetery lies near the rocky shore of Harling Point at the end of Crescent Road. This is Canada’s oldest Chinese cemetery and the Government of Canada designated it a National Historic Site in 1996. In 1903 the Chinese Consolidated Benevolent Association bought the land for the purposes of developing a Chinese cemetery. The site was selected in part because it adheres to the principles of feng shui. Between 1903 and 1908 many of the Chinese graves in Ross Bay Cemetery were relocated to the new cemetery. Most Chinese in Victoria were buried at Harling Point Cemetery until it was closed in the early 1950s. About 400 Chinese are buried in the cemetery. During the period when Harling Point Cemetery was in use traditional Chinese practices called for the remains to be exhumed seven years after burial so the bones could be cleaned and sent to home villages in China. The "bone house" that housed the bones prior to transport no longer stands at the site. This practice was halted in 1937 when the Sino-Japanese war broke out and in 1961 the 900 stored remains were buried in mass graves adjacent to the cemetery. "Fine Art to sell" Group Description: This is a public group to exhibit freely fine art for sale to buyers worldwide. Fine art will be sold by itself once they are exhibited to right buyers at right place. They are not to be sold if they are always stored in a closed warehouse without any exhibition or just exhibited to wrong eyes at wrong venue. This group is aimed to publish an international “E-catalog of fine art for sale” via the combined traffics from the art favorite sites such as Facebook, Flickr, Google plus, Linkedin, Tumblr, Pinterest, Twitter, Blogger, Stage 32, Art-3000, Weibo,…etc. It will become the most convenient “Yellow Page” of fine art for sale in the world. Every buyer can just to glance at the price list on the wall of the group and make decision after careful comparison and study upon the data. It is strongly recommended that you post a sale post with picture of the art object for sale, price, location, size, artist name and the birth year, artist’s death year (if any); even if you have already a private website or a link. Being a professional buyer for decades together with other potential buyers in Taipei, Taiwan, we know a buying rule that just examine what it has on an E-catalog for the sake of efficiency. To show the price in sales post is to demonstrate the positive WILLING for sale of the artist. This is quite different from EXHIBITION ONLY. People go to the selling market with BUYING INTENTION and MONEY for shopping; but people go to a museum exhibition with ticket money and no buying intention. They are only a large audience at an exhibition venue. They will not buy the paintings those are not for sale! If you just post a non-sale post that will be very soon pushed down by other newly coming large database in a few days and lose eye-views from buyers on the wall. It will not be recorded in the easy index-queues of "See all sale posts" in this group. For your own benefit, please click green button to "Sell Something", not to click "Start Discussion" and post a sale post of your best “FIGHTING and COMBATING works of art in the world art market”. If you click "Start Discussion", then after clicking "POST" at the end, please remember to choose "not for selling" to be a non-sale post! A sale post will be shown in “See all sale posts” of the group and easily be noticed by buyers! This is an international “Art Market” where buyers will have to come for shopping. Buyers always go to where a crowded selling market is located with lots of traffics. We have discovered several NEW STARS OF PAINTINGS in this group. This doesn’t mean other painters in this group beside these NEW STARS are not good enough. They are all very good with the best quality of the paintings posted in the internet. Multiple sale posts by an artist can enhance buying interests from a buyer in the paintings by this particular artist! In just less than one month, we have had at least one thousand new members and over 300 valuable lots of beautiful paintings and works of art for sale all over the world! We have been newly created since end-July 2015, but we are confident of what we are going to sell and buy! Mr. Orion Hsu & Brothers Private Museum preparatory office Taipei Taiwan The Art Market in Taipei city of Taiwan The metropolitan area of Taipei City has a population of 7,028,583 people ranking the 40th most-populous urban area in the world. As of 2007, the metro region of Taipei has a nominal GDP of around US$260 billion, a record that would rank it 13th among world cities by GDP. Taiwan is now a creditor economy, holding one of the world's largest foreign exchange reserves of over US$403 billion as of December 2012. The National Palace Museum in Taipei is a great art museum built around a permanent collection centered on ancient Chinese artifacts. It should not be confused with the Palace Museum in Beijing; both institutions trace their origins to the same Forbidden City in Beijing where the Palace of Emperor is located and stored with million pieces of valuable collections by the consecutive Emperors of Qing dynasty. The collections were divided in the 1940s as a result of the Chinese Civil War. The National Palace Museum in Taipei now boasts of a truly international collection while housing one of the world's largest collections of artifacts from ancient China. Along with the cultural education and influence from the nearby National Palace Museum in Taipei, hiking prices and excellent investment returns of art have aroused huge interests of the citizens in Taipei who have been used to be living in a house costs commonly from US$ 1 million to 3 million or so for decades. The art is expensive; but the house is much more expensive than the art. There are over 1,000 shops dealing art business in Taipei and some of them are opened only on Saturdays and Sundays for just two working days per week. Few buyers in Taipei are buying their art collections from international auctioneers and ranking among the top 500 collectors in the world. Most of local citizen-buyers in Taipei are just like million-of-ants and purchase their art goods from local shops and private sellers at millions of dollars by thousands of transactions per day. So the art goods are generally shipped to Taipei from China and worldwide area by containers to meet the art market demand in Taipei. Good paintings and works of art will be sold by themselves once they are exhibited to right buyers at right place. They are not to be sold if they are always stored in a closed warehouse without any exhibition or just exhibited to wrong eyes at wrong venue. Top 31 Chinese artists among the Top 100 artists by world auction revenue in If you are a collector of western oil paintings, deducting 31 % for Chinese artists of paintings and further deducting 20% for Chinese artists of ceramics、bronze、jades and jewelry、lacquer and miscellaneous works of art, in 2014 you are only operating works of art within 49% of the world artists market. Mr. Orion Hsu & Brothers Private Museum preparatory office Taipei Taiwan The Art News in Taipei city of Taiwan 《The FACE of LEONARDO Exhibition》 held in Taipei Taiwan exhibits the painting of Leonardo di ser Piero da Vinci and the other 54 pieces of classical paintings that were influenced by his style with total value at US several hundreds of million dollars. Among these exhibits painting 《Flower》 by Paolo Porpora was smashed in a fist-hole by a twelve years old fallen-down boy on Aug. 23rd, 2015. The Art Market in Taipei city of Taiwan The metropolitan area of Taipei City has a population of 7,028,583 people ranking the 40th most-populous urban area in the world. Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center: P-40 Warhawk & F-4 Corsair hanging over the SR-71 Blackbird, among others

Base of the Falls Trail, Dawsonville, Georgia
Quoting Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum | Curtiss P-40E Warhawk (Kittyhawk IA): Whether known as the Warhawk, Tomahawk, or Kittyhawk, the Curtiss P-40 proved to be a successful, versatile fighter during the first half of World War II. The shark-mouthed Tomahawks that Gen. Claire Chennault's "Flying Tigers" flew in China against the Japanese remain among the most popular airplanes of the war. P-40E pilot Lt. Boyd D. Wagner became the first American ace of World War II when he shot down six Japanese aircraft in the Philippines in mid-December 1941. Curtiss-Wright built this airplane as Model 87-A3 and delivered it to Canada as a Kittyhawk I in 1941. It served until 1946 in No. 111 Squadron, Royal Canadian Air Force. U.S. Air Force personnel at Andrews Air Force Base restored it in 1975 to represent an aircraft of the 75th Fighter Squadron, 23rd Fighter Group, 14th Air Force. Donated by the Exchange Club in Memory of Kellis Forbes. Manufacturer: Curtiss Aircraft Company Date: 1939 Country of Origin: United States of America Dimensions: Overall: 330 x 970cm, 2686kg, 1140cm (10ft 9 15/16in. x 31ft 9 7/8in., 5921.6lb., 37ft 4 13/16in.) Materials: All-metal, semi-monocoque Physical Description: Single engine, single seat, fighter aircraft. • • • • • See more photos of this, and the Wikipedia article. Details, quoting from Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum | Lockheed SR-71 Blackbird: No reconnaissance aircraft in history has operated globally in more hostile airspace or with such complete impunity than the SR-71, the world's fastest jet-propelled aircraft. The Blackbird's performance and operational achievements placed it at the pinnacle of aviation technology developments during the Cold War. This Blackbird accrued about 2,800 hours of flight time during 24 years of active service with the U.S. Air Force. On its last flight, March 6, 1990, Lt. Col. Ed Yielding and Lt. Col. Joseph Vida set a speed record by flying from Los Angeles to Washington, D.C., in 1 hour, 4 minutes, and 20 seconds, averaging 3,418 kilometers (2,124 miles) per hour. At the flight's conclusion, they landed at Washington-Dulles International Airport and turned the airplane over to the Smithsonian. Transferred from the United States Air Force. Manufacturer: Lockheed Aircraft Corporation Designer: Clarence L. "Kelly" Johnson Date: 1964 Country of Origin: United States of America Dimensions: Overall: 18ft 5 15/16in. x 55ft 7in. x 107ft 5in., 169998.5lb. (5.638m x 16.942m x 32.741m, 77110.8kg) Other: 18ft 5 15/16in. x 107ft 5in. x 55ft 7in. (5.638m x 32.741m x 16.942m) Materials: Titanium Physical Description: Twin-engine, two-seat, supersonic strategic reconnaissance aircraft; airframe constructed largley of titanium and its alloys; vertical tail fins are constructed of a composite (laminated plastic-type material) to reduce radar cross-section; Pratt and Whitney J58 (JT11D-20B) turbojet engines feature large inlet shock cones. • • • • • Quoting Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum | Vought F4U-1D Corsair : By V-J Day, September 2, 1945, Corsair pilots had amassed an 11:1 kill ratio against enemy aircraft. The aircraft's distinctive inverted gull-wing design allowed ground clearance for the huge, three-bladed Hamilton Standard Hydromatic propeller, which spanned more than 4 meters (13 feet). The Pratt and Whitney R-2800 radial engine and Hydromatic propeller was the largest and one of the most powerful engine-propeller combinations ever flown on a fighter aircraft. Details, quoting from Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum | Space Shuttle Enterprise: Manufacturer: Rockwell International Corporation Country of Origin: United States of America Dimensions: Overall: 57 ft. tall x 122 ft. long x 78 ft. wing span, 150,000 lb. (1737.36 x 3718.57 x 2377.44cm, 68039.6kg) Materials: Aluminum airframe and body with some fiberglass features; payload bay doors are graphite epoxy composite; thermal tiles are simulated (polyurethane foam) except for test samples of actual tiles and thermal blankets. The first Space Shuttle orbiter, "Enterprise," is a full-scale test vehicle used for flights in the atmosphere and tests on the ground; it is not equipped for spaceflight. Although the airframe and flight control elements are like those of the Shuttles flown in space, this vehicle has no propulsion system and only simulated thermal tiles because these features were not needed for atmospheric and ground tests. "Enterprise" was rolled out at Rockwell International's assembly facility in Palmdale, California, in 1976. In 1977, it entered service for a nine-month-long approach-and-landing test flight program. Thereafter it was used for vibration tests and fit checks at NASA centers, and it also appeared in the 1983 Paris Air Show and the 1984 World's Fair in New Orleans. In 1985, NASA transferred "Enterprise" to the Smithsonian Institution's National Air and Space Museum. Transferred from National Aeronautics and Space Administration

Main Street, U.S.A. - Engine Co. 71

Fire House Park, Ormond Beach, Florida
Walt Disney World The Magic Kingdom Main Street, U.S.A. As you make your way underneath the Train Station tunnels heading into the Magic Kingdom, you’ll find both City Hall and the Fire Station of the fictitious “Engine Co. 71” (the number 71 came from 1971, the year Walt Disney World opened) on the left side of Town Square. Unlike it’s Disneyland counterpart, the WDW Fire Station did not house an apartment for Walt Disney (an apartment in WDW for his family was to be built inside the Castle). Also, this one is not to be confused with the real fire department of Walt Disney World, the Reedy Creek Fire Department (RCFD). “The Disney World property is protected by a full time paid fire department, the Reedy Creek Improvement District (RCID) Fire Department. They provide fire protection and emergency medical services to the parks and they also respond as mutual aid to the surrounding counties. By the 1990's their were 4 stations, 2 stations were standard type fire stations and 2 were double wide mobile homes. There are about 200 firefighters, who work on 3 platoons, with one platoon on duty at all times. The firefighters are on duty for 24hrs. and then they are off duty for 48hrs.. The department responds to about 10,000 calls a year. One of the daily duties of the firefighters is to inspect each kitchen to insure that it is clean and free of defects that could cause a fire, a kitchen that is found to have a fire hazard is not allowed to open until the hazard is removed. In the first 25 years Walt Disney World has not had a major building fire loss on the property, most of the fire loss comes from automobile fires in the parking lot. The Walt Disney World property has one of the most stringent fire codes in America, most of the states' fire codes now follow their lead.” - wiki ^obviously that information hasn’t been updated in a while, but I don’t think Disney has lost a building to fire in the last 15 years either (in addition to the “first 25” the article refers to above). Very impressive. This shot is nothing fancy, but it is a good example of how a tilt-shift lens can be used to get close to taller buildings and help keep vertical lines straight to avoid convergence if you’re after that effect. That being said, I’m not sure I’ll be “straightening up” any more buildings at WDW. These types of shots are very technical in nature, taking a lot of time to execute and I just don’t feel the resulting static building images pack any kind of punch or "wow" factor that I like to see in Disney photography.

B York Belting 13 Gasoline Loaders and Skidders Will move your logs much more quickly and at a lower cost than man power. They have been thoroughly tested in Ontario lumber camps, and have won the enthusiastic endorsement of their users. They are light enough to be moved easily about on the job, yet are ljuilt strong enough to be safely used for a considerab!- overload it necessary. They are simple in construction, and can be operated by any fairly in- telligent workman. They have been tested in the coldest weather, and run all winter every day in Ontario logging camps, even at 20° below zero. We are now making these machines in two sizesâSix Horse Power, and Ten Horse Power The Six Horse Power size will move readily any log commonly found in Ontario and East. The Ten Horse Power size will handle two or three logs bunched together, involving a con- siderable saving of time at a small extra outlay for machinery.
