The busiest airport in the United Kingdom, London Heathrow Airport (LHR) handled 73.4 million passengers in 2014. The airport, which is 14 miles west of central London, is also the third busiest in the world when measured by passenger traffic. It is one of six international airports in the region. More than 90 airlines fly to and from LHR, including British Airways, which uses it as a hub, and Virgin Atlantic, which uses Heathrow as its primary operating base. In total, passengers can fly to more than 170 destinations in Europe, Africa, Asia, North America, South American and Oceania. The airport has two runways and five passenger terminals.
