After the Great East Japan Earthquake on 11th March 2011, there are many of the victims or peoples affected were children in the Tohoku region. So to bring back the smile to children,  the POKÉMON with YOU Train project was started to support the disaster-struck areas and to bring joy and encouragement to the people living in those places.

The new design of the Pokemon with You train will be decorated outside with plenty of Pikachu. Inside, the decoration is also impressive with a special area for the children.

Besides trains, the Pokemon with You program sells merchandise and organizes events to raise funds for disaster relief operations.

The Pokémon with You Train will be making trips up and down the Ofunato Line, which stretches from Iwate Prefecture’s Ichinoseki Station in the south to Kesennuma Station in Miyagi Prefecture in the north.

On each day, the train will depart Ichinoseki at 11:01 a.m., arrive in Kesennuma at 12:51 p.m., then leave on its return trip at 3:08 p.m., arriving back in Ichinoseki at 4:49 p.m. in the afternoon. Tickets can be reserved up to one month in advance here through the JR East Japan website.
