At the Izumisano Fisheries Cooperative Open-air Fish Market, located adjacent to a fishing port, a wide variety of freshly caught seafood is available. Mantis prawns, swimming crabs, flatfish, sea bream, octopuses, and other seasonal sea delicacies are sold directly. Seafood caught in the afternoon, or hiruami, are put up for auction starting from around 2:30 p.m. The lively voices of those bidding at auctions create a vibrant, spirited atmosphere in the market.
