Interests in setting up hydroponic farming, cattle and beef farming, solar energy, and student exchange

Investment Fiji yesterday met with a five-member visiting delegation from Japan currently in the country to discuss investment and export opportunities.

Investment Fiji chief executive, Godo Müller-Teut, said discussions centred on the delegation’s interests in setting up hydroponic farming, cattle and beef farming, solar energy, and student exchange programmes.

“The team from Japan has been in regular contact with Fiji’s Embassy in Japan where they have been provided information on the areas they have expressed an interest to invest in,” he said.

“The meeting today was to further discuss their proposals and Investment Fiji has, of course, offered it’s assistance to facilitate in any way we can.”

Investment Fiji provided an overview of the business environment and attractive tax incentives including Tax Free Zone regions that Fiji has to offer foreign investors as well as the process of registering a business.

The Japanese delegation will be meeting with a number of Government agencies and private companies over the next days before returning to Japan.

The visit is a follow-on from the initial visit in December when a high-level Japanese delegation visited Fiji to re-new bilateral ties in investments, trade and tourism.

Investment Fiji acknowledged the excellent relationship it has with the Japanese Embassy in Fiji and the Japanese trade promotion agency, Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
