Measuring: This much, That much, How much?

We heard about this exhibit in NYC and saw flyers for it all over the coolest shops in Japan. We had to check it out and really enjoyed the exhibit.

The exhibit focuses on measurement, displaying different quantities, scale, and has some fun interactive features. The building is worth seeing alone, designed by famous Japanese Pritzker Prizer architect Tadao Ando.
The structure was designed to represent Japan, using one piece of folded steel to construct the roof as well as the longest sheet of double-glazed glass in Japan.

When you first enter, you are greeted with a really cool interactive piece. You use your hands to create an empty sphere and the visualization returns a photograph of an object that is the exact same size in real life.

Global Change In One Second by Tomohiro Okazaki + Think the Earth is a beautiful piece, each screen displays a timelapse animation that corresponds to the amount of seconds you’ve been standing on the platform.

“Sake Scale: From the manufacturer to the table and finally to the mouth — the closer the containers of sake get to the mouth of the drinker, the smaller their sizes become.”

The second interactive piece visualized the subject in pixel form and depending on distance from the wall, the pixels increased or decreased. As you got closer, the pixels got bigger.

We should have worn all white like this guy.
